Senior Governance and Business Analyst
 
  • $132,814 per annum + Superannuation

About the role

WorkSafe’s Insurance Business Unit (IBU) is responsible for the management and delivery of workers compensation insurance and self-insurance services for WorkSafe. The Business Service and Enablement (BSE) Division is responsible for delivering the supporting and enabling capabilities across the business unit, in particular as business owners of the technology platforms and services. The primary purpose of this team is to be the business owner for IBU’s Insurance IT systems.

The Senior Governance and Business Analyst is accountable for the development and implementation of initiatives and projects around WorkSafe’s insurance business applications. The role provides a critical function for WorkSafe’s insurance products and services, including the management of business partners and business applications. 

Some key accountabilities include: 

  • Manage the delivery of end-to-end businesses processes which are enabled by WorkSafe’s mainframe and premium insurance business applications, including delivery of the annual premium cycle
  • Lead IBU’s incident management and recovery across all Agent and client-facing business applications, including engagement and negotiation with ITSS and Agents
  • Lead the change and development prioritisation for premium systems, testing and support of premium systems and coordinate teams to perform development of business requirements, test strategies and user acceptance testing activities
  • Prioritise and manage change to WorkSafe’s mainframe applications with vendors, working collaboratively with ITSS business partners, IBU and Agents to lead the business contribution to system specifications and other documentation ensuring a robust application of the software development lifecycle for IBU’s system improvement processes
  • Understand and advise on different systems from an operational viewpoint including mainframe and online systems and provide input as necessary, and to evaluate and support the implementation of systems changes to meet the business needs

About you

  • Ability to lead and informally coach a small team of technical experts
  • Experience working with vendors to deliver scheme outcomes, including performance management
  • Experience with WorkSafe’s project management and governance frameworks, with demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement multi-faceted programs, systems and procedures
  • Experience as a business analyst in the delivery of major projects applying the software development lifecycle, including deep experience with both waterfall and agile delivery models.
  • A solid understanding of the application of legislation in an operational context, for example the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and relevant Premiums Orders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology or similar, unless extensive experience in a similar position with comparable tasks
