If you share our passion, we are seeking a Principal Analytics Consultant. This position sits in the Partner Analytics team in Business Analytics, and is responsible for the provision of quantitative analysis, advice and reporting on performance trends, projects and initiatives, and identifying emerging risk and opportunities.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Form an independent view of emerging performance that is transparent & understood, including implications to the organisation as a whole, and includes early warning of emerging risks/opportunities.
  • Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert providing guidance and mentoring to Senior Consultants and Data Analysts, to support the delivery of multiple projects across the team.
  • Provide Quality Assurance to analytics deliverables (including software code, model designs, data visualisations and presentations).
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and proactively partner to determine needs, agree priorities and effectively allocate resources
  • Provide authoritative statistical and other advice to business partners, stakeholders and senior management – and bring it to life in a way that influences stakeholders to implement and improve strategies for achieving performance targets
  • Development and provision of analytical services including leading the design of statistical models, providing guidance on the interpretation of model outputs

About you

You have expert knowledge in one specific domain of Health & Safety and/or Workers Compensation partnered with strong interpersonal skills to support appropriate internal and external networks and relationships.

Additional Skills & Experience

  • Ability to lead stakeholder engagement activities to collect, identify and articulate stakeholder requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve to provide innovative, efficient and robust analytical solutions
  • Ability to present insights statistically, visually, and in easy-to-understand language.
  • Highly-developed report writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor analysts, plan and schedule their activities, and check quality of deliverables.
  • Experience in leading analytical projects including setting goals and deliverables, establishing success criteria, and defining key metrics of solution success
  • Experience contributing to business case development for analytics projects and gaining stakeholder agreement
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement systems/procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of key data sources and core systems
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Programming experience within SAS and/or similar languages (R, Python, SPSS)
  • A strong knowledge of and experience using data visualisation and analytical tools in day-to-day work (e.g. SAS VA, QlikSense, R, Python) including experience designing, developing and implementing new initiatives
  • Advanced statistical, quantitative and financial modelling skills combined with a demonstrated capacity to innovate in developing solutions to business challenges.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification (e.g. Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Actuarial) paired with extensive relevant experience
