Program Officer, Healthcare and Social Assistance
  • $120,109 per annum + Super
  • Full time fixed term position (12 months)
  • Based in Melbourne CBD

About the role

Working as a part of the dynamic Health and Safety Business Unit the Program Officer supports the development and implementation of initiatives and projects in the Healthcare and Social Assistance team, including the development of supporting procedure and policy, and drives acceptance into the WorkSafe business and across a number of stakeholder groups. This role will play a key role in programs relating to work related violence, fatigue and worker wellbeing.

To be successful in this role:

  • You will be working on multiple projects, collaborating with the members of the team to scope, design and develop of projects for the Healthcare and Social Assistance industry.
  • You will possess technical expertise and knowledge of the healthcare and social assistance industry, preferably with experience in the areas of work related violence, fatigue and worker wellbeing.
  • You understand the legal, policy and the operational environment of WorkSafe Victoria and are able to develop initiatives, supported by research, analysis and a business case justifying the initiative.
  • You possess the ability to influence the thinking and actions of others, and to facilitate diverse groups.
  • Your expertise is in the capture and analysis of input received from stakeholders, research and analysis and WorkSafe directives and the ability to formulate that input into draft policy or procedures.

About you

You are an experienced Program Officer who wants to make a difference. Your project management, communication and organisational skills are excellent. You have a passion for what you do, are team oriented and enjoy leading and making an impact on your team and stakeholders. You also have;

  • Strong ability to undertake effective research and analyse data material
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to problems in a complex environment
  • Experience in the preparation of project plans, agendas, minutes, reports, briefs, meeting documentation and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, employer groups, unions, external and internal stakeholders
  • Strong experience in conducting presentations, facilitating discussion and working groups and / or training sessions
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Tertiary qualification or experience in a related discipline (e.g. public health, OHS, psychology, behavioural science or project management)
